Sandy has been the Information and Assistance Program Director for the Anne Arundel
County Department of Aging since 1995. She has over 25 years of experience in the
provision of services to older adults, including in-home care, adult day care, residential
care and discharge planning. She has a Master of Science degree in Family and Community
Development and a Master’s level Certificate in Aging from the University of Maryland,
College Park. She has been active in Maryland AIRS since 1995 and is a past president
of the Board.

Saundra is the Associate Vice President of the United Way of Central Maryland, and
has directed United Way’s First Call for Help™, a statewide, 24-hour, comprehensive
information and referral service, since 1993. Prior to her position at First Call,
Saundra was employed for 12 years at the Baltimore City Commission on Aging, as Coordinator
of the Baltimore City Senior Information program, Administrator of the Ombudsman
program and Social Work Case Manager/Assessor in the Channeling/Gateway II program.
Saundra served as the founding chair of the 2-1-1 Maryland Task Force and continues
to participate in planning efforts to bring 2-1-1—3-digit dialing for community resource
information and referral--to Maryland. Saundra has a B.A. in Social and Behavioral
Sciences and a M.S. in Education-Counseling from the Johns Hopkins University.

Dakota works for the Maryland Department of Aging as Program Manager for the Senior
Information and Assistance and Senior Care Programs and has worked in the field of
aging for over 20 years. As an employee of the Maryland Department of Aging, she
has been involved with several programs including: Public Guardianship, Legal Services,
and Senior Assisted Housing. In her capacity as program administrator and advocate
for the elderly citizens of Maryland, Dakota is currently working with the agency
to develop, enhance and streamline access to long-term care services for the growing
senior population in Maryland. She is frequently invited to conduct speaking engagements
for senior citizens and community groups throughout the state. Dakota has a Bachelor
of Science Degree form Morgan State University where she majored in Social Work with
a concentration in Aging. She also studied at Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio. Dakota has served on several boards, committees and task forces,
including the Ohio Commission on Aging’s Elder Abuse Task Force, Maryland Home Energy
Programs Advisory Board, Maryland Gerontology Association, and the Maryland Alliance
of Information and Referral Systems. Prior to her work with MdoA Dakota was employed
with the Social Security Administration and the Department of Human Resources.
